super tote from Charm About You

I am just so THRILLED with this bag! I searched for a long time for just the right pattern to sew, as this was a Christmas gift for my mum. Like me, she is particular in what she wants in a bag - a good size, big enough to hold A4 documents/files, a zip closure, pockets and long enough handles to be worn over the shoulder. This hit every need and it was a joy to make. I've honestly learnt so very much making it (read on for the specifics), I'm really happy with the combination of prints ...

10 Pocket Tote Pattern with Divider that Holds EVERYTHING! All Around Tote by Sew Many Creations from Quilt Addicts Anonymous

It’s been a hot minute since we did a bag tutorial, mostly because I’ve gone to the shop and home and that’s about it. But we are in a new year, and I’m optimistic, so I finally sewed together the All Around Tote pattern by Sew Many Creations I cut nearly a year ago to use as a diaper bag.

This bag will hold everything and keep it organized. There are eight outside pockets, two zippered inside pockets, a divider and a flap to keep everything secure while you’re out. And it’s BIG, finishing ...

Happy New Year from Wendy's Quilts and More

It's the 1st of January here in New Zealand, so Happy New Year everyone.

I certainly hope that 2021 is going to be kinder to us all than 2020 was! We won't forget that year in a hurry.

Here's my first finish of 2021.  Can you guess what it's for?

It's a pouch for my son's new Xbox Series S.  The Series S is a very small, portable Xbox, so my son requested a pouch for it.

He chose the fabrics from my stash - black and white for the outside, a tone on tone ...

Octopus Tote from Wendy's Quilts and More

How cool is my new tote?

I just had to make a bag from the wonderful new Octopus fabric designed by Brandon Mably for Kaffe Fassett Collective.

I wanted the lining to be from Kaffe Fassett fabrics too, and I was considering using the two fat quarters of black and white Onion Rings that I've got in my stash.  But I've got other plans for them, so I bought Good Vibrations in black in white (on the left above).  But then I thought it might be hard to find "stuff" in the bottom of the bag, so I ...

Zip It Up bags from Wendy's Quilts and More

A couple of weeks ago I watched Tula Pink's video launching her new black and white fabric line - Linework (It won't be available for months yet, so don't panic).  Towards the end of the video Tula showed two Zip It Up! bags she had made.  I thought they looked amazing so I dashed off and ordered the pattern from the Ribbon Rose in Auckland.

Here's a link to Tula's video.  The bags appear at about 22 minutes in.

Of course we can't get Linework yet, so I ordered some half yards of Tula's ...

Slowly getting back to normal from Oops Lah

After eight weeks of lockdown we're starting a new phase today as shops, restaurants, gyms, primary and middle schools are reopening here in Switzerland. High schools and universities will stay closed for another month and of course social distancing will still be in place for the unforeseeable future. To be honest, these past weeks have been quite nice as we had both kids home for some time. My daughter, who works as a teacher abroad was able to come back here as her school switched to online learning and my son managed to break his shoulder just before the ...
